Edible Schoolyard Affiliates Break Ground in San Francisco, CA and Greensboro, NC, September and October 2009

Alice Waters and Berkeley Edible Schoolyard staff joined in the groundbreaking for a new Edible Schoolyard at the Greensboro Children’s Museum on September 30, and at the San Francisco Boys and Girls Club at the Willie Mays Club House in Hunters Point, on October 17.


Edible Schoolyard Academy Hosts Educators from Around the Globe, July 2009

The first Edible Schoolyard Academy, designed to train educators and administrators in our philosophy and approach to Edible Education, took place this past summer. Two sessions, two-days each, were fully booked and feedback was extraordinarily positive. Read more.

dosa Clothing and Housewares Sale, April 2009

Chez Panisse restaurant hosted its third annual dosa sale in support of the Chez Panisse Foundation. Shoppers beat the heat on the hottest day of the year by sipping rosé in the café and dining room while trying out the latest dosa line of clothing and housewares.

Celebrating the Dining Commons at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School, November 2008

Over 200 community members joined the Chez Panisse Foundation to celebrate and support the Dining Commons at King School. The event featured special guest speaker Representative Barbara Lee and was attended by a mix of foundations, parents, elected officials, small business owners, and students. The enthusiastic crowd clearly demonstrated community-wide support for our efforts to transform school lunch!


Summer Solstice at Barney's New York, June 2007

This dinner at Barney's flagship store helped raise awareness of the Chez Panisse Foundation's work and celebrated the launch of our partners and collaborators, dosa and Heath Ceramics. The event featured a window installation on Madison Avenue dedicated to Alice Waters' philosophy of eating locally, seasonally, and organically.


Ann Hamilton's Tower Project at the Oliver Ranch, May 2007

The Chez Panisse Foundation was the beneficiary of one of three inaugural performances in Ann Hamilton's Tower Project at the Steven and Nancy Oliver Ranch. The event featured a performance by Meredith Monk and vocal ensemble in the Tower, an 80-foot tall, 30-foot wide cast concrete amphitheater. Later, a roast lamb feast, prepared by Chez Panisse restaurant, was served at the Walden Space vineyard nearby.


Chez Panisse Restaurant 35th Birthday, August 2006

Chez Panisse Restaurant and the Chez Panisse Foundation partnered to create a New Orleans-themed birthday celebration featuring beignets, gumbo, and sazeracs. This all-day event benefitted the Edible Schoolyards in Berkeley and New Orleans.
