As we develop our program, we will assess, document and disseminate our learning to other districts to articulate our vision for how school lunch can be a time of nourishment, learning and interaction.
Overview
The Chez Panisse Foundation is creating a set of tools that describe our philosophy, our program, and its implementation for district leaders, administrators, and teachers. We are also building a network of schools throughout the country that are interested in reinventing their school lunch programs and integrating kitchen, garden, and dining classrooms into their curricula.
We have partners in locations as diverse as New Haven, Connecticut; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Los Angeles, California; and we have begun conversations with organizations in Washington, D.C.; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and New York City.
Partnerships
In the fall of 2006, the Chez Panisse Foundation helped to launch our first sister site, the Edible Schoolyard NOLA, at the Samuel J. Green Charter School in New Orleans, Louisiana. ESY NOLA is the first in a network of affiliate programs we intend to establish across the country. ESY NOLA is primarily funded by the Ruth U. Fertel Foundation, Octavia Holdings, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, and individual donors, with additional support from the Chez Panisse Foundation. For more information about ESY NOLA, please visit their web site.
Support
We seek funds to continually document our work and to provide our partners in other locations with support materials and consultation. Learn how you can help.
